This month's GLOSSYBOX definitely held a wide variety of samples to try, but I'm not over-the-moon excited about any of the samples this month.  I have a sensitive nose (strong scents give me headaches) and, unfortunately, the scent of the perfume, bath salts, and bath & shower oil are all a little strong for my liking.  The mark. lipstick is nice, but the color reminds me a lot of the Kryolan for Glossybox lipstick from the September box and the ModelCo. lipstick from the October box (all are very similar neutral rosy shades-pretty and wearable, but a little boring month after month).  The Zoya polish is a  fantastic addition, though I do already own a few similar silver glitters in my large polish collection.  The inclusion of a JewelMint piece was fun and festive, though I expect a lot of folks will be receiving pieces that aren't exactly their style (which is my case here with this ring - it's a little more earthy and Southwestern than my usual retro, ladylike style).

All in all, I do think this month had a nice variety of products.  Unfortunately none of them happen to be entirely my cup of tea.

  1. I'm new to Glossybox and December will be my first, does everyone receive the same items or are they a little different for each, like Birchbox? I'm hoping I get a Zoya in my box like you did, I absolutely love their polishes!

    1. Danielle, there is a slight variation among the boxes sent out each month with GLOSSYBOX, but they are no where near as varied as with Birchbox. Most of the time everyone will receive 3-4 of the same items and then 1-3 of the items will be different. This month, from what I've seen thus far, it seems like most everyone is receiving a Zoya polish (though a few different shades are being sent out).

  2. How big is the ring? I have a size 8 ring finger and I know most (or all?) Jewelmint rings are sized so do you think that it would fit?

    1. Tori, different folks are receiving different pieces (rings, necklaces, bracelets), so there is no telling what you'll get. That said, I haven't checked the size of the ring I received, but I have a size 9-9 1/2 finger and it fits me. It's snug, so it's probably an 8, but it fits and because of the size of the ring front, you can't even tell that it's snug looking at it on. I believe their rings come in sizes 6, 7, and 8, so if you receive a ring you may receive any one of those sizes.

  3. This months box was a MASSIVE disappointment for me... I received the aruvedic oil (which is a fragrance that I find overly strong and my boyfriend HATED), the cheap epsom salts that I'll probably never use, and the pleats please sample which is just ok, nothing special... I didn't receive the MARK lipstick (which I might have actually used), or the wella sample packet. I received a teensy tiny perfume sample size of a hair oil treatment and a tiny little spray bottle of Oscar Blondi heat protectant spray (which I may use when I travel, I don't know). The only thing I was excited to receive in my box was the full size Zoya polish. It was actually in a color I had wanted, and I will absolutely use it. The downsize is that I could have purchased the polish for less than half the cost of my box. The thing that really bothered me was the inclusion of the Jewelmint jewelry in this month's box. First of all, I had tried Jewelmint after they had pimped out samples to all the gurus on youtube, and I was frankly disgusted with the quality of the products. I bought two pieces, both at half price, and I feel I overpaid for both. I think their quality is on par with jewelry that you would find at Forever 21 for under $10, so their prices really anger me. I outgrew this type of cheap and unimpressive jewelry in my 20's, and at only 31 I feel I am outside the age range they are trying to reach with this service. Additionally, to include this in a box that is supposed to be about makeup and beauty items is somewhat unfair. Jewelry is such a personal thing, and the ring I got is SO not my taste that I would never have worn it, but I couldn't wear it even if I wanted as it is too large to fit any of my fingers. This is such a huge let down for me, I am considering canceling my subscription. I have been somewhat disappointed in past months, but this was just anger inducing. Tiny samples of product, one full size item and an UGLY ring, not worth my $21...

    1. I can definitely understand your disappointment in the box this month! The November and December boxes have definitely been my least favorite thus far. I feel like this month could be really hit or miss with folks. For me it was a miss for sure. I couldn't agree more about your comments on JewelMint. I definitely do not think the quality of most of their jewelry is worth anything more than what you'd find at Forever21. I've gotten two of their pieces in the past. One pair of earrings I purchased for 60% off, which are okay quality but I've yet to wear them. Then I purchased another pair of earrings with a referral credit, and I honestly LOVE them and think the quality is definitely worth the price (though I probably wouldn't have bought them had I not had the credit). Most of their jewelry is just so not my style and I do think it's very cheaply made for the most part. I'm not upset that they included the jewelry since there were 6 other beauty samples (I would have been upset if it were one of 4 or 5 items total); however, I do think it would have more of a success if they had provided us with a coupon code to choose an item of our own from the site for free rather than sending us all a random piece that most likely won't fit our style.

    2. I was bummed out because the jewelry I got was a bracelet, but I can't fit my hand through it to get it on! Very frustrating--this is the first time I ever had a bracelet not fit.

  4. I was really unhappy in this months box as well. The body oil really stinks and reminds me of those cheap kits from K-Mart. I also got really small samples of hair oil and the perfume. The bracelet I got also didn't fit. I agree with everyone else the zoya nail polish is about the only thing in this box I will actually use. This is only my second box, I hope it gets better.

  5. Hi there! I came across your blog a few months ago because I was considering doing beauty box reviews myself. I too was a bit disappointed in my last two Glossyboxes (my November box contained two empty samples) which really pushed me to go ahead and start my reviews on them even more. My December box had such low value products as well. I figure with these boxes the more reviews the better because everyone's boxes are different. I really hope the turn it around this next year. If you happen to be curious you can check out my blog at http://michellebellebright.blogspot.com/ Anyways I've really enjoyed your posts!

  6. Hey,

Sorry you weren't too impressed with your GlossyBox, I ordered my first one in December and really loved it. I did get slightly different products to you though and lucked out! Had I received some of your products not so sure I would have loved it so much! If you'd like to see my review and what stuff I got please take a look on http://glamlifeofahousewife.com/348/

    thank you :)
