August 2012 GLOSSYBOX USA

If you aren't subscribed to GLOSSYBOX, get ready to be jealous, ladies.  The theme of the August GLOSSYBOX was Pure Luxury and I'd say they hit the nail on the head with this one!

"A balmy summer has come to a close and your body is in need of genuine TLC.  Pamper yourself in this month's GLOSSYBOX by nourishing your body from head to toe with rich, technologically-advanced products infused with vitamins, natural oils, and sublime color.  The exquisite selection of cosmetics will preserve your sun-kissed beauty, leaving you looking healthy and radiant.  As the season comes to an end, wrap yourself in pure luxury."

This month's GLOSSYBOX contained five products, including two full-size items!

2. Ellis Faas - Ellis Lips ($35.00/0.095 oz)

Total box value: $93.00

Wow, GLOSSYBOX, just wow!  I simply cannot believe we received over $90 of great products this month.  They didn't kid when they claimed the Pure Luxury theme.  I'm so happy to try everything I received this month.  While the shades I received in the Illamasqua Nail Varnish (Radium) and Ellis Faas lip product (L109 Pale Coffee) aren't shades I'd probably pick up for myself, I'm excited to give them a try.  I think the Pale Coffee lip color will be a nice, warm nude shade for fall.  The nail varnish is a bit brighter and greener than I usually go for, but it's a unique color and I've been wanting to try an Illamasqua polish for ages and here's by chance to try out the formula before I splurge on one of their polishes.  I'm really looking forward to trying the hair and skincare items as well.  I'll let you know what I thought of everything in next month's post.

Now for a little update on what I thought about the products from my July GLOSSYBOX.  I thought the Sebastian Color Ignite Shampoo was quite nice.  It left my hair feeling moisturized and soft.  The coordinating conditioner seemed a little too light and not rich enough for my liking.  The Blushed fragrance towelette smelled divine, but I found the towelette itself a little awkward to use (I'll stick with traditional spritz applications).  I'm enjoying the Senna Cosmetics eye shadow trio, but I think I prefer the matte shades from my Urban Decay Naked palette as they seem to suite my skin tone a bit better.  The Alessandro International Heel Rescue Balm seems decent, but no better or worse than most of the other foot creams I've used in the past.  Unfortunately, I found the scent of the Figs & Rouge balm a little too strong, so I haven't used it a ton.

Overall, I felt the July box had a nice array of products.  Mostly I enjoyed them, but I didn't discover any new favorites.

  1. I really like how you list the price/worth of each item. That's super helpful and makes me feel better for the price I pay for the box. Thanks!! Now if only mine would come faster...

    1. I'm glad it's helpful! I'm always obsessed to know the value of the samples I get in each of my subscription boxes. This month's box was a steal for everything we're getting! I hope you love your lip and nail shades and that your box arrives soon.

  3. Ahhh, I'm so tempted to start getting Glossybox and your post made that temptation even stronger!! I have heard they were having issues with payments and that it took forever to ship the boxes. Have you had any problems?

    1. I personally have not had a single issue with billing/payments or with any of my boxes in particular (I do know there were some folks who had issues with some items in past boxes leaking during transit). They do tend to bill at the beginning to middle of the month, but the boxes do not ship until around the 20th. Therefore most folks don't receive their boxes until the end of the month or beginning of the next month. While I don't personally love the fact that they ship at the end of the month, once my boxes have shipped they have always reached me quickly.

I will say that the $21 cost of GLOSSYBOX does make it more of a splurge than most of the other subscription boxes (Birchbox, for example). But, thus far, I feel that each month GLOSSYBOX has been consistent with providing enough value to merit the price. At least in my opinion. I've shared the contents of all of my GLOSSYBOXes to date on my blog if you're curious to look back and see what each month has been like.
