October 2012 GLOSSYBOX USA

The October GLOSSYBOX was focused around "Spa Luxe" products "designed to refresh and rejuvenate your mind, body and spirit... ideal for creating a sense of well-being and the ultimate beauty oasis."

I was excited when I heard the October GLOSSYBOX would have a spa theme.  With the weather turning cold around this time of the year, my skin always goes a little crazy with adjusting to the new season, and I was looking forward to receiving some products to pamper myself.  This month I received a nice assortment of products both to pamper and to beautify myself.

1. Alterna Bamboo - Luminous Shine Mist ($22/4 oz)
An eco-certified shine mist made with Indian gooseberry and organic bamboo that controls frizz and flyaways.  It is a brilliant and weightless gloss for any hair type.

Sample size: 0.85 oz
Sample value: $4.68

2. Kryolan for GLOSSYBOX - Blusher in Glossy Rosewood ($9/2.5 g)
The micronized pigments in this semi-transparent cream powder allow for a vivid yet light application.  Perfect for the cheeks and can be used on the eyelids too.

Sample size: 2.5 g
Sample value: $9

3. Heartland Fragrances - Exfoliating Loofa Soap ($8/6 oz)
A truly unique hand-poured loofa soap encased in gentle glycerin provides the perfect blend of moisture and exfoliation.  This soap is designed to improve circulation and is great for exfoliating those tricky rough, dry areas.

Sample size: presumably full size
Sample value: $8

4. Modelco - Lip Duo Lipstick & Ultra Shine Lip Gloss ($39/.13 oz & .07 oz)
An ultimate pairing in lip color - a flawless, long-lasting lipstick & an intense beaming gloss.  Each may be worn separately or layered for an individually tailored hue.

Sample size: presumably full size
Sample value: $39

5. Natassja Skin - Enzyme Facial Peel ($40/2 oz)
This revolutionary facial peel is infused with vitamins and nutrients.  It exfoliates with papain, a naturally occurring enzyme in papaya, and gently eliminates dead, dry skin cells to reveal a more radiant you.

Sample size: 0.25 oz
Sample value: $5

Total box value: ~$65.68

Yet another great assortment of samples!  I really love the color of the lip stick/gloss duo and the blusher.  I think both are lovely colors for fall.  I look forward to trying the spa products as well.
I've been loving several of the products from my September GLOSSYBOX.  The Missha Perfect Cover B.B. Cream has become a true favorite of mine!  I've been using it in place of foundation every day since I received my box and I'm absolutely hooked.  Because I have incredibly oily skin, I do have to set it pretty heavily with a mattifying powder and powder frequently throughout the day because it has a naturally dewy finish; however, I find the product itself actually lasts and wears better on my skin than my long-lasting foundation formulas.  Even after blotting and reapplying powder as needed, the B.B. Cream itself doesn't become blotchy or wear off like all the foundations I've tried tend to do.  I'm really not sure how to describe this product but it's extraordinary.  It applies like a dream as well.  It goes on incredibly smoothly and with surprisingly great pigmentation.  I will definitely be repurchasing this B.B. Cream when I run out!

I was really excited to receive the OC8 Professional Mattifying Gel because, as I mentioned, my skin is insanely oily.  This product claims to provide an 8 hour matte finish.  While I do find it does help mattify my skin better than any other mattifying products I've tried in the past, I'm really only able to get 1 or 2 hours (if I'm lucky) of a matte appearance before my skin is super shiny and needs blotting/powder.  Even using a generous amount of this product under a matte foundation still didn't control my oil longer than a couple of hours.  This was disappointing, but I do find this is still the best mattifying gel I've tried (most have absolutely no effect for me).

The shampoo/conditioner duo I received were surprisingly wonderful!  I usually don't notice much of a different at all when trying out different hair products (other than split ends for infrequent haircuts, I have very healthy, fine hair); however, I actually did notice that when I used these products together that my hair seemed a little softer and less frizzy than it is normally.  I may be tempted to treat myself to these in the feature.

  1. I've been loving the September products too! And also replaced foundation with the Missha BBcream, it's amazing.
I don't know how I feel about the blush in this month's box though, will see what I get in my box! :) xx

  2. I think the blush is a pretty color and the texture is quite unique. I'm excited to use it. That said, it seems like most of the other boxes included a rather hefty sample of a Carol's Daughter Shea Soufflé that supposedly is amazing, so I'm a little sad I didn't get to try that.
