April 2013 Birchbox

I can't believe it's already time to share my April Birchbox!  I've been particularly busy recently and the weeks are just flying by...

This month's Birchbox was a collaboration with Women's Health magazine; "the magazine's beauty and wellness experts put together a collection of their favorite products, all designed to help you fine-tune your lifestyle."

My April Birchbox included four samples and one "lifestyle extra":

Beauty Protector - Protect & Detangle ($21.95/8 oz)
Great for all hair types, this nourishing elixir performs seven hair-healing functions.  Among them: locking in color, adding shine, and instantly detangling.

Sample size: unknown (~1 oz)
Sample value: unknown (~$2.74)

I have incredibly tangly hair, so I always enjoy using a product like this (detangling and heat protecting) on my damp hair before blowdrying.  This product has great reviews on the Birchbox website, so I'm really looking forward to trying it.

Caudalie - Divine Oil ($49.00/100 ml)
Made with a blend of grape, argan, hibiscus, and sesame oils, this multitasking wonder gives skin, hair, and nails a gorgeous glow.

Sample size: 3 ml
Sample value: $1.47

I've been enjoying using natural oils recently in my skincare routine, so I'm curious to give the Caudalie Divine Oil a try.  It does contain fragrance--a scent that I'm not particularly fond of--but it doesn't seem like it will be too overpowering.

Mirenesse - Glossy Kiss Lipstick ($26.55/4 g)
Launching exclusively in the Birchbox Shop, this user-friendly lip pencil is a quick way to score a high-impact pout.

Sample size: 4 g
Sample value: $26.55

This Glossy Kiss Lipstick can be used on the lips or sheered out on the cheeks as a nice flush of color.  While I find the shade I received (Quick Kiss) rather intense when swatched, it can be blended out to a pretty coral-orange tint.  This will be a fun item to reach for to this spring and summer.

Supergoop! - Advanced SPF 37 Anti-Aging Eye Cream ($45.00/15 ml)
At last: an eye cream with serious sun protection.  Plus, the innovative formula has oat peptide complex to firm skin.

Sample size: 2 ml
Sample value: $6.00

Even though I have oily skin, I love using hydrating eye creams.  I don't believe I've ever used one with SPF before.  This one smells particularly strong from the sunscreen, but it feels like it will be fairly moisturizing.

Lifestyle Extra:
Hail Merry - Chocolate Macaroons ($5.00/3.5 oz)
It tastes too good to be true: These decadent treats are raw, vegan, gluten-free, and made with only natural Non-GMO ingredients.

Sample size: 0.88 oz
Sample value: $1.26

I've recently become a fan of coconut (for years the only coconut products I enjoyed were Mounds bars), and these healthier treats are pretty satisfying.  I find these slightly bitter, but overall they are pretty tasty and have a pleasantly rich texture.

Total box value: approximately $38.02

Overall, a pretty good month.  Definitely doesn't compare to my March box, but I am genuinely interested in testing out the samples I received.

What did you get in your April Birchbox?

    1. I agree, the Protect & Detangle smells great! Unfortunately the spray on mine doesn't work so I've been having to pour it into my hands and distribute with my fingers... and little annoying, but I'm enjoying the product thus far! I can't tell that it's doing anything fabulous for my hair, but it's a pretty good detangler. :)

    1. Thanks! I didn't forget to include it, I just don't personally consider the freebie offers from companies as part of the products list in my box. Because I sign up and pay my money for actual products included in the boxes, I don't count coupons and freebie offers as value in my box. Just my person take! :)

I did send in the voucher to receive the rebate, but until I actually see the return, I'm not getting my hopes up.
